Minnesota River Valley Juvenile Detention Center will provide a safe, secure, structured setting for pre-dispositional youth of both genders between the ages of 10 and 21.

  • Licensed by the Department of Corrections

  • 6 beds temporary holdover (8-day) and 6 beds long-term detention

  • 10 wet cells

  • 2 internal segregation cells with secure dayroom

  • Secure facility

 

Criteria

  • Juveniles ages 10+
  • Non-status offense

  • Cannot be under the influence of any chemical

  • Gym (Indoor / Outdoor)

 

Social Visiting Hours

Social visits are restricted to parents and legal guardians. Professionals such as probation officers, lawyers, social workers, etc. may visit at any time. Prior arrangements should be made for any visit.

 

Phone Calls

Residents may have one phone call per day with parents or legal guardians. Calls will be placed collect and will have a limit of 10 minutes. Calls from attorneys, probation officers, social workers or other professionals will be unrestricted.

 

Education

During the regular school year, education is provided by the local school district. Summer education programming is provided by MRVJDC. An emphasis will be placed on keeping up with an individual's home school assignments or GED preparation.
